LAKE OF EGYPT - Philip V. Thorne, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother passed away on March 3, 2025. Born in Chicago, Philip was the adopted son of Russel and Maude Vincent Thorne. He grew up in Belleville and attended Belleville Community High School.In 1951, Phil began his academic and athletic journey at Southern Illinois University (SIU), where he played on the SIU football team. He served as a Marine before returning to SIU to wrestle and complete his education, graduating in 1955. He later received a master's degree in education.During his time at SIU, Phil met the love of his life, Mary Francelle Thorne. They moved together to Hinsdale and Downers Grove, eventually settling in Naperville. Their marriage spanned an impressive 62 years.
