It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Calvin Grimmer - a devoted husband and father, distinguished mathematician, educator, and engaged citizen-whose lifelong passion for learning, teaching, and loving left an indelible mark on all who knew him.Ron was born on Aug. 16, 1941, to Chester (Chet) Calvin Grimmer and Mildred (Milly) Odense (Sessing) Grimmer. He developed an early interest in chemistry, which later impressed his children. During his high school years, he spent time earning spare change at his father's service station in Minneapolis, Chet's Texaco.After high school, Ron embarked on an academic journey at Carthage College in Illinois, where he met his eventual bride, Patricia (Pat) Lou (Andresen) Grimmer, and they fell in love.The next stop on his journey was the University of Iowa in Iowa City, where he pursued his Ph.D., writing a dissertation titled Almost Autonomous Differential Equations.
