CARBONDALE - Peter J. Emmett, 76, OF Elkhart, Indiana, formerly of Carbondale, passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care Esther's House in Elkhart.Peter was born in Chicago on Sept. 28, 1948, to the late Howard and Louise (Petersen) Emmett. He married the love of his life, Wendy (Weinman) Emmett on May 3, 2013.Peter is survived by his wife, Wendy; brothers, Bob Emmett, John (Bernis) Emmett and Alan Brody; stepchildren, Kevin (Nikki) Koile and Nancy Vogel; and four step grandchildren.Peter honorably served in the U.S. Army Military Intelligence unit stationed in Korea. After attending SIU, he joined the Carbondale Police Force and served the community for 30 years. In 2010, Pete moved to Edwardsburg, Michigan. Pete was active with the VFW, American Legion and Eagles. Both Pete and Wendy attended Hope of Edwardsburg Church.
