Sara "Sally" Schauwecker passed away peacefully Dec. 21, 2024, with her husband, Harry, faithfully by her side along with family and friends.Sally had bravely fought through her dementia and declining physical health and had a remarkable rebound three months prior to her death. She was able to come home and be with Harry. They cherished those last few months together.Sally was born July 10, 1937, in River Forest, to John and Eleanor Duncombe. She had many fond memories of her childhood and still kept friendships with friends in River Forest/Oak Park. After high school, she attended the University of Illinois and was an Illini cheerleader.Sally and her ex-husband, Ladd Cameron, raised their children, Bruce and Melinda, in Carbondale. They led an active social life. Their home was always welcoming and open to Bruce and Melinda's friends.She married Harry Schauwecker in 1989. They especially enjoyed their home at New Thompson Lake and the visits from children and grandchildren. Sally fil
