MURPHYSBORO - Betty Jane Heins, 91, of Murphysboro, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, at her residence.Betty was born on Nov. 4, 1932, to Arthur J. and Josephine M. (Korando) Hellmer in Raddle. On Aug. 2, 1951, she married her husband, Robert A. Heins, and together they spent over 54 years together until his passing in 2006.In her early years of their marriage, Betty was a baseball wife when her husband Robert played for the Cardinals and enjoyed the traveling and the camaraderie of the other wives. Later she and Robert worked with one another at Heins Insurance for many years. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, and decorator creating a beautiful home for her, her husband and daughters. She was Martha Stewart before Martha Stewart. Betty was a animal lover. She was member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro.Survivors include her daughters, Christine Heins, Lisa Heins and Susanne (Mike) Gaffney; brother, Robert (Mary) Hellmer; fur babies, Tybalt and Maddie; many niece
