CARBONDALE - Shelia (Rathert) Shaw, 72, of Mount Vernon, Indiana, formally of Carbondale, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, in Evansville, Indiana. She was born Sept. 1, 1951, in Murphysboro, to Barbara (Hallam) Rathert and the late Harley Dean Rathert.Shelia grew up in Campbell Hill. She graduated from Trico High School in Campbell Hill and Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky.She worked for H&R Block as a tax preparer, was everyone's Avon lady for years, Shelia was quite the Renaissance woman! Shelia worked hard planning events, weddings, operating her own traveling balloon and party business in the 1990s. Shelia adored being a den mother for both her sons in Cub Scouts of the Egyptian Council Southern Illinois. Shelia was a member of Epiphany Lutheran, Prince of Peace Lutheran church(s) of Southern Illinois.
