CARBONDALE - Marty Boor passed away in Kirkwood, Missouri, after a short illness on Aug. 1, 2024, surrounded by family and memories of her friends.Marty was born in Flora to Leo and Martha Allen. She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana where she majored in journalism. It was here that she gained the nickname Marty, which she would use for the rest of her life.She began her relationship with her future husband Bill Boor while at school. It began when she tagged along with Bill's then girlfriend to ride home from Champaign to Flora. She loved to tell how on the way home the girlfriend sat in the front seat beside Bill, but on the return trip that's where Marty sat. And that is how they began their over 60 years together.They eventually settled in Carbondale. They raised their children there, Bill spent most of his career there, and they were both heavily involved in the community. After retirement, they moved to a golf course community in Daphne, Alabama, and enjoyed
