MURPHYSBORO - Robert Lee Stevens, 91, of Murphysboro passed away, Friday, Aug. 2, 2024, in Union County Hospital in Anna.On Aug. 3, 1932, he was born in Carbondale.He proudly served his country in the United States Army, earning the rank of captain. He retired from the Illinois Central Railroad after 31 years service.He is survived by his brothers, Charles Stevens and Gary Stevens of Lake of Egypt; a sister, Shirley Calhoun of Carterville; and several nieces.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Helen (Wehmeyer) Stevens; one brother and one sister.Private graveside services were in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park, with the Rev.
