God, in His almighty power, who is too wise to make a mistake and too just do wrong, saw fit on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Southgate Nursing and Rehab to take the soul of Mrs. Phyllis B. Powell, affectionately known as "Kitty" at the age of 93. She humbly bowed to the will of God and peacefully entered into her rest, from her trials and tribulations to her better, from her labor to her reward.
On February 2, 1962, Kitty met and married David Powell, he preceded her in death. She was a member of St. John's Missionary Baptist Church under the direction of the late Reverend G.W. White until her health began to fail. Kitty lived all her life in the Pulaski, Illinois community. Kitty is the last of the original generation on Vine Street.
Kitty was a very loving & devoted mom, supporting her children no matter the difficulties. Her passions including tending to her flower garden, where she loved planting Zinnias and Rose bushes. She loved to dress up and wear her many hats. Kitty's fa
